Hunting, another blood sport

Why do we like to kill?

Hunting, why does it still go on? Why are there still people who enjoy to kill other living beings? What is the fun of shooting birds out of the sky, or deer from behind a tree? Hunters will claim they control animal populations by killing the weak and the sick animals. And this way they prevent overpopulation. This is not true, because hunters are also guilty of feeding animals large amounts of food to keep the population high, so they can shoot more. They also breed animals on large farms, mostly big birds like pheasants, to put them into the wild, about a day before a hunt starts. This is ilegal, but they do it anyway... hey, they are controlling wildlife remember?

Thank you hunters!

Another thing is, that hunters killed the natural predators of some animals for hundreds of years. Many of them disappeared (extinct), on others they're still working. For example: in Holland many hunting birds are being poisoned because hunters see them as competitors. Hundreds of these beautiful animals have been killed already. But still the hunters claim that they are doing what is best for nature, but in fact it is only good for the hunters themselves. Many of them make good money selling deer, hare or other animals to restaurants.

Very popular these days are trips to exotic places, to shoot the animals over there. They offer rifle and bow hunting for people who want to pay to right price. It is very sad to see all these beautiful animals killed just for fun. The people who organize these trips are only in it for the money. They could not care less if an animal has to suffer because someone wants to try bow hunting for a change. They advertise on their sites like this: "We had had a young boy of 11 years shoot 7 animals with his bow, and gentlemen in their 70's shoot many animals successfully".

Most hunters are amateurs.

Most hunters don't hunt professionally, they are just amateurs that hunt once in a while. Because of that, many animals only get wounded. They escape, and die a slow and painful death later. And by shooting one or two of the parents many more very young animals die because they don't have anyone who can take care of them anymore. So they die a slow death also.
